United Healthcare is a large family of medical insurance companies that holds a leading spot in the private insurance industry in the U.S. Within that company, you will find Golden Rule health insurance, which is a company that has a long history and a high reputation in the UH family. In 1940, the company was founded by a couple in Illinois, but in the 1970s, the office was relocated to Indianapolis.

Of course, the company did just fine for itself while it was on its own. In 2003, as part of a major merger within the company, United Healthgroup paid $500 million to purchase Golden Rule for their own family of companies.
