The
Lily Feeder
The
newly patented Lily Feeder is designed to optimize and simplify fertilizer
application. Unlike traditional methods that add fertilizer to soil at the
top of a plant’s container, the Lily Feeder begins with a feeding tube
planted at the bottom of a plant’s container. Tiny holes in the tube slowly
disperse a supply of nutrients into the soil at the base of the plant’s root
system. The continuous and even distribution of nutrients yields stronger plant
growth and more plentiful blooms.
The
company’s initial packaging was sold without fertilizer making for an incomplete
package. The company reports it has teamed with a major fertilizer manufacture
and is including newly formulated fertilizer capsules with every tube. These
capsules are designed with very low insoluble material improving on the breakdown
of capsules in the tube, while reducing the amount of clogging from non water-soluble
binding agents.
PONDinfo
has reviewed at least one College laboratory test that concluded The Lily Feeder’s
strengths include a better and more even distribution of nutrients across the
bottom of the water plants root base. The thesis paper was based on a variety
of water-soluble fertilizer, traditional tabs, and time released nutrients.
PONDinfo
felt the design and delivery system of this quality built product was a fantastic
innovation. This product really makes sense and we appreciate no requirement
to enter our ponds and disturb our planting containers every few weeks. Our
personal test over the summer of 1999 occurred using four hardy Water Lilies
(Attraction) and four hardy Water Lily (Gladstone). We used different types
of fertilizer including the conventional tablet form that we applied as recommended
by manufactures packaging. The result was surprising! The plant with The Lily
Feeder bloomed more frequently and produced more prolific leaf material.
The
Lily Feeder had only two negatives at the time of testing. The lack of fertilizer
included with the package and the retail price. At the time of this report
we have been contacted by the company and have learned that both of these negatives
have been addressed as fertilizer is included and price has dropped to a very
reasonable retail price.
